Throw what ya know

Spring is here...
What better time than now, to add a new look or splash of color to your home?

Throw pillows can bring together a room's color palette and design scheme, providing balance, elegance and visual interest to your home decor.  They can soften the look of a heavy leather sofa or add a punch of color to a wingback chair. Changing throw pillows is also an inexpensive and simple way to change the design scheme of a room. Either purchase new accent pillows or cover existing ones with new slipcovers, and then throw them anywhere, from your sofa to your bedroom chaise lounge.

Decorating with Throw Pillows:

Arrangement... for eclectic or modern decor, group accent pillows in sets of odd numbers: use three, five or seven pillows in a room. Using asymmetrical groups is a common interior design rule for nontraditional decor; the room will feel more visually balanced. Vary the pillows' size and pattern. If you want a more traditional, symmetrical look, use even numbers.

Size and shape...vary the shapes and sizes of throw pillows. Standard pillows measure 18 inches by 18 inches. Add a contrasting shape or size into a pillow grouping for additional interest. Large pillows can make a statement in a room; choose one or two with fringe, tassels and trim for additional character. For example, place an oblong pillow in the center of a couch or a round pillow on a side chair.

Fabric...vary your throw pillows' textures and textiles for a rich yet subtle mix. Use fabrics from plush velvets to smooth silks. Mix and match pillows: pair stripes and plaids together or combine solid and floral designs.

Color...choose pillow colors by looking at fabric, artwork and other accents in the room. Decide on a common accent color and match the color to a paint swatch. Use the swatch to compare different pillows when browsing online. Pillows do not need to be an exact match. Some slight variation adds natural contrast and interest to the room. Add the accent color in a few other areas, including accessories, lampshades and other items of home decor.

Storage...put a decorative basket or storage bin in the room for holding accent pillows when they're not being used. For example, set a wicker basket behind the couch to toss pillows in while entertaining in the living room. Or hide pillows when they're not needed by keeping them in a plastic bin placed underneath the bed. The storage area keeps pillows fresh and clean.

Happy Decorating!

Florals & Fringe, Need I Say More?

Florals and Fringe, need I say more?
I loved romping around in this boho attire while I spent the day brunching and touring Blue Hound Farm with my soon to be sister-in-law and her other bridesmaids! (a.k.a, a perfect Sunday) After we enjoyed a to die for brunch at Home 231, we were off to explore her and my brother's enchanting venue, Blue Hound Farm. This place is seriously so endearing and catches your eye with all the little rustic details. I cannot wait for their special day and am so blessed to be apart of it! This look is one of my favorites! I'm sure you can see why, me being the material/texture addict that I am! I added more burgundy to my hair too! Have to switch it up every once in a while! A. Roland Salon is my savior in hair and facial products!

Leather Leggings Series-3

Here's some shots while I was having a little too much fun (if that's even possible) with my hat before we started the shoot! Hope you enjoy the look!

Okay, ya'll this is the last look from the leather legging series. I am a lover of chain necklaces, all things patterened and black (if you haven't noticed) but I love this look especially because of the hat! I ended up rockin this edgy little number for a girls night out on the town! The jacket actually came in handy because it still gets a little cool at night during this time of year. Nothing's better than being cute and comfortable, right?! Anyways, have a fabulous day lovers and remember leather leggings don't have to be worn, just one way! I hope these looks gave you some fresh ideas!

Leather Leggings Series- 2

Hey ya'll so if you missed my first "Leather Leggings Series" here is a quick recap...
We all have those fabulous pieces we love endlessly in our closet. Well, leather leggings are one of those pieces for me.  So, I am featuring on the blog a couple different ways I like to wear them.

In my previous post I showed two casual styles. In this post I will be featuring a fun and sexy way I wore my leather leggings.  I actually wore this outfit for Valentine's Day and lets just say my valentine couldn't stop staring. Which is quite the compliment because we have been dating for five years! Needless to say I thought this look needed to be shared.

For this look I went with soft curls, a nude lip and nude pumps for a softer, sultry look.  I then accessorized with some beautiful rose gold for my jewels. Another way, I have styled this outfit was with a high top knot bun and a bold red lip paired with red pumps to add a pop of color. I love everything about different textures and loved this combo of leather and fur.

During the transition of shoots I forgot my heels in the car, but that just meant I had to get a little creative.  The first photo is the give away of what I was actually wearing when my feet are not showing.  But I took it a little further and I even went bare foot.  I actually ended up loving the contrast of bare feet with this high-end theme.  Just goes to show one piece can be wore, and styled in various ways-it's all about finding your style!

Have a lovely and blessed holiday weekend!!
Stay tuned for Leather Legging Series-3!

Leather Leggings Series

Ever obsess over a statement piece so much but you've already worn it and everyone has seen it posted all over your facebook, instagram and twitter? Well surprise! You don't have to throw that statement piece you adore away! I am all for no repeats but let's be real, if it aint broke, don't fix it, right?  The trick is to basically give it a face lift every time you wear it. You want that adoring statement piece to make it's debut as if it's never been seen before! That is where Brandom comes in, I am here to give you more ideas on how to wear those favorite pieces of yours again and again. Please do not be shy to comment with what favorite pieces of yours are in need of a fresh look!

Let me just say, leather leggings are one of those pieces, I just can't get over. To some leather leggings can be a little intimidating. It's a texture we are not use to seeing on pants all the time, so to create a look with them can sometimes be challenging--a fun challenge, to say the least!

Stay tuned to see how I pair my leather leggings in what I will be calling the "Leather Legging Series", these looks will be giving you ideas the whole way through Spring!

Black, red and leopard...need I really say more?
I love this look for some errands or a casual lunch date, in the city.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here, I mixed leather in two different colors, black and brown. I combined them with a bright green cotton T, and this True Religion denim and corduroy jacket. I can't get enough of the accents of the corduroy on the pocket and on the elbow pads. I polished this outfit off with one of my other obsessions, this chunky silver necklace. I love this necklace with this outfit because this necklace is very easy to dress up but it gave this casual look just enough pop and tied all these textures together. Doesn't get much better than that! Sorry for the limited amount of pictures for this look.
